PIX: Ben Affleck, Jessica Chastain Shine At BAFTA

Widely known as the British Oscars, the 2013 British Academy of Film and Television Awards honoured the finest works of the year in a glitzy and somewhat rain-soaked ceremony at The Royal Opera House on February 10 in London, England.

While Ben Affleck's widely-acclaimed espionage thriller Argo won the top awards, this year marked the first ever BAFTA win for a James Bond movie in 50 years as Daniel Craig and Javier Bardem starrer Skyfall won the Outstanding British film award.

Zero Dark Thirty actress Jessica Chastain, Best Actress nominee for her role as the young CIA officer Maya in the film, was a headturner in her electric blue gown.

While actress Juno Temple won the Rising Star award, Tessa Ross was felicitated with the Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema nod.

Here's a look at the highlights from the awards show!

Marion Cotillard

French stunner Marion Cotillard, who recieved a lot of acclaim for her role in 2012 film Rust And Bone, was a vision in her yellow Christian Dior creation.

The Best Actress BAFTA went to 85-year-old Emmanuelle Riva, the lead actress in Michael Haneke's Amour. The film also won the Best Film Not in the English Language award.

Daniel Day Lewis

Lincoln actor Daniel Day Lewis bagged the Best Actor award for his role in the Steven Spielberg film.

The actor has received top billing at the Academy Awards too, scheduled to take place later this month.

Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway, who cut a cute picture in  her hairdo and studded Burberry dress, took home the Best Actress BAFTA for Les Miserables.

The film also won the Best Makeup and Hair, Best Production Design and Best Sound BAFTAs.

Jennifer Lawrence

Silver Linings Playbook acterss Jennifer Lawrence, who won the Best Actress nods at Golden Globes as well as at the Screen Actors Guild awards this year, looked radiant in a dreamy Dior gown.

David O Russell's Silver Linings Playbook won the Best Adapted Screenplay nod.

Christoph Waltz and Quentin Tarantino

Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained clocked in two wins -- Best Supporting Actor trophy for Christoph Waltz and Best Original Screenplay for Tarantino.

Gemma Aterton

English actress Gemma Aterton, who was recently seen in Hansel and Gretel along side Jeremy Renner, chose a daring Celia Kritharioti gown for her appearance.

While Skyfall won the Outstanding British Film and Best Original Music awards, Brave won the Best Animated Feature nod.

Ben Affleck and George Clooney

Argo makers and real life buddies Ben Affleck and George Clooney (one of the film's producers) pose with their awards.

The film won three BAFTA nods -- Best Film, Best Director for Affleck and Best Editing for William Goldenberg.

Ang Lee and Suraj Sharma

Ang Lee's visual extravaganza Life Of Pi won the Best Cinematography award, picked up by Lee on behalf of Claudio Miranda.

The film's star Suraj Sharma was present too.
