Foreign tourist arrivals in the country have shown a jump between January and April of this year registering a growth of 18.3 per cent.
A total of 13,28,094 tourists visited the country till April this year as against 11,22,898 in the corresponding period last year, an official release said on Wednesday.
However, the statistics released by the tourism ministry showed a sharp drop of nearly nine lakh tourists during April as compared to March this year. While March witnessed a total of 3,41,554 foreign tourists, it came down to 2,50,640 in April.
January and February this year saw a total of 3,63,631 and 3,72,269 tourists, it said.
The tourist arrivals also netted a total foreign exchange earning of Rs 9,079.26 crore (Rs 90.79 billion) during the four month period this year as against Rs 7,136.01 crore (Rs 71.36 billion) in the corresponding period last year.
