Tata Motors sales up 44.5% in July

Tata Motors on Tuesday reported a 44.5 per cent growth in sale in July at 45,056 units, (including exports) as compared to over 31,173 units in the same month last year.

The company said its passenger vehicle sales, where it sells models like Indica, Indogo and Safari, increased by 40.4 per cent at 18,238 units in the domestic market during the month as compared to the same month last year.

The flagship car Indica sold 11,941 units, up 62 per cent over last July, while that of midsized sedan Indigo family registered sales of 2,589 units, a decline of 16.5 per cent over last July, it said.

The Sumo and Safari accounted for sales of 3,708 units, a growth of 46.8 per cent over last July.

The company's sales of commercial vehicles in July this year in the domestic market were 21,534  units, an increase of 54.3 per cent over 13,957
units sold in July last year.

Meduim and heavy commercial vehicles sales were up 51.5 per cent at 12,139 units over last July, while light commercial vehicles sales were 9,395 units, a growth of 58 per cent over last July, it said.

Tata Motors said its exports were up 25.2 per cent at 5,284 units during the month as compared to 4,220 units last July.

Cumulative sales of passenger vehicles during the April-July of this fiscal in the domestic market stood at 67,694 units, up 25 per cent over the previous year.

Commercial vehicles in the domestic market for the period under review increased by 65.4 per cent at 84,676 units.
