Tata Motors sales up 31.3%

Riding on the back of Indica, which crossed the sales mark of 9,000 units, Tata Motors on Friday reported a 31.3 per cent increase in its October sales at 35,283 vehicles as against 26,862 units in the same month last fiscal.

Commercial vehicles sales grew by 29.6 per cent at 16,667 units over October 2003 figures, the company said.

Medium and heavy vehicles sales during the first seven months of the year grew by 35.3 per cent at 68,918 units while light commercial vehicle sales at 31,702 grew by 21 per cent.

In the passenger vehicles segment, the company achieved the highest sales ever in any month at 16,332 units, up by 33.2 per cent over October 2003.

Sales of the flagship car Indica crossed 9,000 units for the first time during October at 9,634 units while the Indigo Marina notched sales figure of 3,698.

Sumo and Safari sales for the month stood at 3,000 units, up 4.2 per cent over the comparable figures.

The company's exports for October 2004 stood at 2,284 units as compared to 1,737 units in the same period last fiscal.
