ONGC net up 24% to Rs 2825 crore

The state-run Oil and Natural Gas Corporation has reported a 24 per cent jump in its net profit to Rs 2,825 crore (Rs 28.25 billion) in the second quarter ended September 30 as against Rs 2,276.59 crore (Rs 22.76 billion) in the same period a year ago.

Turnover was up 16 per cent to Rs 8,661.5 crore (Rs 86.61 billion) in July-September as compared to Rs 7,446 crore (Rs 74.46 billion) in the second quarter of 2002-03, a company release said in New Delhi.

ONGC net profit rose 17 per cent to Rs 4,959.54 crore (Rs 49.59 billion) in the first half of 2003-04 as against Rs 4257.39 crore (Rs 42.57 billion) in the corresponding period last year.

It reported a turnover of Rs 16,528.52 crore (Rs 165.28 billion) in April-September, a 14 per cent rise over Rs 14,379 crore (Rs 143.79 billion) turnover in the first six months of 2002-03 fiscal.

The un-audited financial results of the company were approved by the board of directors on Tuesday evening.

Crude supplies during April-September were at Rs 9,953 per tonne as against Rs 8,134 per tonne last year.
