Mayajaal Entertainment, a family entertainment complex and a division of Pentamedia Graphics, has added an 'onshore resort' to its list of attractions at an investment of Rs 17 crore (Rs 170 million). The resort is spread over 21 acres behind the Mayajaal complex, according to a company release.

Located on the East Coast road, enroute Mahabalipuram, the resort would cater to tourists, businessmen and leisure travellers and promises to offer an experience, which combines leisure with entertainment.

Mayajaal has a six-screen multiplex, eight-lane bowling alley, games arcade, food court, shopping mall, e-joy bar and creche for children.

In the first phase of the construction, 40 rooms have been built, while phase two and three would have fresh investments where 80 additional rooms are scheduled to come up in the next year-and-a-half.

The resort has an artificial waterfall, a 100-seater conference room, a spa, fitness centre, discotheque, bar, multi-cuisine restaurant and has a capacity to service 5,000 individuals. Chennai-based Arusuvai Group will manage the food and beverage arrangements.

The resort also houses an 18-acre sports village, which offers sports infrastructure including a cricket ground, cricket pavilion, swimming pool, squash court, badminton court and an indoor games room.

"Between Mayajaal, the sports village and the resort, they (visitors) get to have one of the most comprehensive entertainment and leisure spread that is unrivaled in this side of the country," said Udeep Bogulu, CEO of Mayajaal, in a press release.

The company has plans to take the leisure and entertainment concept to Coimbatore, Madurai, Tiruchirapalli and Vizag in the next three to four years.
