India's second-biggest carmaker Hyundai Motor India on Friday said its sales surged 13.4 per cent in May 2004.
A total of 12,708 units were sold during the review month over 11,200 units during the same month last year, a company statement said in New Delhi.
HMIL sold 7,735 units in the domestic market while it shipped 4,973 cars in May this year.
It sold 885 units of the recently-launched premium sedan 'Elantra'.
HMIL, which has been named as an export hub for premium small cars, manufactures flagship model 'Santro', mid-size car 'Accent' and luxury sedan 'Sonata' on the outskirts of Chennai.
The company also imports and sells sports utility vehicle 'Terracan'.
