Jet Airways Chairman Naresh Goyal said on Friday Air Sahara employees would not lose their jobs as a result of his company taking over the Lucknow-based airline.
"None of the Air Sahara staff will lose his/her job. I need people and I can absorb them," he told reporters in Mumbai. The deal would help Jet to minimise or nullify our employee shortage, especially that of pilots, he added.
After making the announcement of acquisition on January 18, this year, Goyal said the employee intake would be on merit basis.
This statement raised a question mark on a seamless integration of Air Sahara's 4,400 employees into Jet.
However, Sahara Group later clarified that it had given an undertaking to each employee of Air Sahara that there would be no loss of jobs and cadres and gross emoluments will be unaffected after the deal.
Jet, Goyal said, would be able to attract more air traffic and would be able to keep the whole work force busy.
