Tech Mahindra has bagged a five-year contract from British Telecom, under which the Indian company will provide strategic sourcing services to the global communications solutions and services provider.
According to a release issued by Tech Mahindra to the BSE, the contract is expected to create new revenue for the company in excess of $1 billion over the contract period.
The Pune-based company will support BT's managed services for business customers around the globe and provide ongoing services related to the company's internal systems, processes and re-usable platforms.
The companies will create and operate a global delivery organisation by leveraging and augmenting Tech Mahindra's existing delivery centres.
This will help in achieving greater flexibility and efficiencies in addressing client requirements, Tech Mahindra said in a release on Wednesday. The new contract is an extension of the existing 20-year relation between the two companies.

We feel privileged that BT has selected us for this opportunity and takes our long-standing relationship to a new level", Tech Mahindra vice chairman and MD Vineet Nayyar said.
According to BT Group finance director Hanif Lalani, "This is another example of BT sourcing the best skills around the world to deliver outstanding service and value for our customers while contributing further to continued operational efficiencies."
