Sensex surges 58 points

The Sensex surged 58 points to 5,738. The Nifty finished 22 points higher at 1,808.

Wipro surged over 2% (Rs 14) to Rs 652. Satyam ended 1.5% (Rs 6) higher at Rs 402. Infosys went up Rs 5 to Rs 1,767.

Reliance rallied 1.7% (Rs 9) to Rs 560. ITC was down Rs 5 at Rs 1,098, and HLL finished unchanged at Rs 126.

ONGC soared 2% (Rs 16) to Rs 810, and HPCL gained 2% (Rs 6) to Rs 331.

SBI advanced a per cent (Rs 4) to Rs 465. While HDFC Bank rallied 1.3% (Rs 5) to Rs 415, ICICI Bank moved up Rs 2 to Rs 297.

HDFC moved up 1.4% (Rs 9) to Rs 658.  Tisco spurted 1.4% (Rs 4) to Rs 289, and Hindalco was up Rs 5 at Rs 1,246.

Bhel added 1.7% (Rs 10) to Rs 627. Larsen & Toubro was up Rs 2 at Rs 840.

Tata Motors zoomed 2.5% (Rs 10) to Rs 416. Bajaj Auto rallied 2.2% (Rs 22) to Rs 1,005, and Maruti gained 1.5% (Rs 5) to Rs 363. Hero Honda finished a rupee higher at Rs 421.

While Tata Power surged 3% (Rs 9) to Rs 316, Reliance Energy finished Rs 4 higher at Rs 649.  Bharti Tele gained 2.3% (Rs 3) at Rs 151.

Sensex @ 1500 hrs

While the indices continue to display lacklustre movement stock specific activity seems to be the order of the day.

The Sensex is now up 26 points at 5,706, and the Nifty has gained 10 points at 1,796.

Wipro is steady at Rs 649, and Satyam has moved up 1.5% (Rs 6) to Rs 402. Infosys, however, has slipped into negative zone and is down Rs 6 at Rs 1,755.

ITC has plunged 1.5% (Rs 17) to Rs 1,087. While Reliance is up a per cent (Rs 6) at Rs 557, HLL is down a rupee at Rs 125.

ONGC and HPCL are ruling firm at Rs 803 and Rs 332, respectively.

While Bharti Tele is up a rupee at Rs 148, Zee is down a rupee at Rs 153.

Auto stocks are exhibiting a mixed trend. Bajaj Auto has zoomed 1.5% (Rs 14) to Rs 998, and Tata Motors has rallied a per cent (Rs 5) to Rs 411. While Maruti is up Rs 2 at Rs 360, Hero Honda is down a rupee at Rs 419.

While BSE Auto, TECk, PSU, Health Care and Metal indices have pared gains to 2,321, 1,496, 3,651, 2,582 and 4,924, respectively, the BSE FMCG index has extended loss to 902.

Kochi Refinery has zoomed over 6% to Rs 206. IPCA Labs has rallied 5% to Rs 741. ABB, Micro Inks, Shipping Corporation, Bongaigaon Refinery, Corporation Bank, Titan, Merck, IDBI, Ispat Industries, Jindal Steel, Alstom Project, Arvind Mills, Century Enka, MICO and Torrent Pharma have gained 2-4% each.  Balaji Tele, Syndicate Bank, Union Bank, Ingersoll Rand, Sun Pharma, IPCL, Hexaware, Bank of Baroda, CMC, Tata Chemicals, Bank of India, Hughes Software, UTI Bank, Allahabad Bank, Nicholas Pharma, Canara Bank, Syngenta and Sterlite Optical have declined 1-3% each.

Sensex @ 1400 hrs

The Sensex continues to move in the same range of 5,700 - 5,720, and is now up 34 points at 5,714. The Nifty is at 1,797 - up 11 points.

Wipro is ruling firm with a gain of Rs 12 at Rs 651. Infosys and Satyam are up Rs 5 each at Rs 1,767 and Rs 401, respectively.

While Reliance is up a per cent (Rs 6) at Rs 557, ITC is down a per cent (Rs 13) to Rs 1,090. HLL has dropped a rupee to Rs 125.

HPCL has soared 2% (Rs 6) to Rs 331, and ONGC has moved up Rs 10 to Rs 804.  Bhel has rallied 2% (Rs 12) to Rs 629. Larsen & Toubro is up Rs 6 at Rs 844.

Dr Reddy's is up a per cent (Rs 8) at Rs 759. Ranbaxy has gained Rs 3 at Rs 1,085, and Cipla is trading flat at Rs 280.

Bajaj Auto has zoomed over a per cent (Rs 12) to Rs 996. Maruti and Tata Motors are up Rs 3 each at Rs 361 and Rs 409, respectively.

Hero Honda, however, is unchanged at Rs 420.  Tata Power has spurted 1.7% (Rs 5) to Rs 312. Reliance Energy is up Rs 4 at Rs 648.  While Bharti Tele is up 1.5% at Rs 150, Zee has gained a per cent at Rs 155.

Sensex @ 1300 hrs

The Sensex is moving in a narrow range of 5,700 - 5,720, and is now up 22 points at 5,702. The Nifty is at 1,795 - up nine points.

Wipro is firm at Rs 650. While Satyam is up Rs 2 at Rs 398, Infosys is trading flat at Rs 1,762.

ITC has moved down 1.3% (Rs 14) to Rs 1,090, and HLL is down a rupee at Rs 126. Reliance, however, has gained 1.3% (Rs 7) at Rs 558.

ONGC has surged 1.4% (Rs 11) to Rs 805. HPCL is up Rs 2 at Rs 327.

Bhel has advanced 1.6% (Rs 10) to Rs 626.   Grasim is spurted a per cent (Rs 11) to Rs 1,145. However, ACC and Gujarat Ambuja are trading almost flat at Rs 264 and Rs 354, respectively.

SAIL is topping the volume chart on the BSE, and the counter has clocked a volume of around 17.59 lakh shares so far. IPCL (16.50 lakh), Satyam (9.27 lakh), Bongaigaon Refinery (8.42 lakh) and Reliance (8.29 lakh) have also logged good volume.

Infosys tops the value chart with a turnover of Rs 53.45 crore so far on the BSE. It is followed by Reliance (Rs 46.11 crore), Satyam (Rs 37.12 crore), IPCL (Rs 33.20 crore) and Lupin (Rs 22.10 crore).

Sensex @ 1130 hrs

The Sensex slipped to an intra-day low of 5,689, and is now up 19 points at 5,699. The Nifty is at 1,794 - up eight points.

Wipro is up 1.7% (Rs 11) at Rs 650, and Satyam is up Rs 5 at Rs 401. Infosys, however, has pared most of its gains and is now up Rs 2 at Rs 1,763.

ITC has plunged a per cent (Rs 12) to Rs 1,092. While Reliance is up Rs 2 at Rs 553, HLL is steady at Rs 126.

ONGC has gained Rs 7 at Rs 801. HPCL is trading flat at Rs 325.

Bhel is firm with a gain of a per cent (Rs 8) at Rs 624. Larsen & Toubro is up a rupee at Rs 839.

Grasim is up Rs 5 at Rs 1,139. ACC and Gujarat Ambuja are up a rupee each at Rs 265 and Rs 355, respectively.

While Bharti Tele is up a rupee at Rs 148, Zee is down a rupee at Rs 153.

Sensex @1037 hrs:

The Sensex slipped from the day's highs and is now up 27 points at 5,707. The Nifty is at 1,796 - up 10 points.

Infosys is up Rs 8 at Rs 1,770. While Satyam has gained 1.3% (Rs 5) at Rs 401, Wipro has surged 2.2% (Rs 14) to Rs 653.

Reliance is up Rs 3 at Rs 554. ITC has slipped Rs 8 to Rs 1,096, and HLL is marginally down at Rs 126.

HDFC Bank and SBI have advanced Rs 2 each to Rs 412 and Rs 462, respectively. ICICI Bank is up a rupee at Rs 296.

Hindalco and Tisco have gained Rs 3 each at Rs 1,244 and Rs 287, respectively.

Bhel has rallied a per cent (Rs 7) to Rs 623, and Larsen & Toubro is up Rs 4 at Rs 842.

Dr.Reddy's has surged a per cent (Rs 8) to Rs 758. Cipla and Ranbaxy are up Rs 2 each at Rs 282 and Rs 1,084, respectively.

Bajaj Auto is up Rs 7 at Rs 991, and Tata Motors has gained Rs 3 at Rs 408. Hero Honda and Maruti are up a rupee each at Rs 421 and Rs 359, respectively.

Grasim has spurted Rs 9 to Rs 1,143. ACC and Gujarat Ambuja have added Rs 2 each to Rs 266 and Rs 356, respectively.

While Reliance Energy is up Rs 4 at Rs 648, Tata Power is up Rs 2 at Rs 309.

Bharti Tele is up 1.5% (Rs 2) at Rs 150. Zee is unchanged at Rs 154.

The BSE TECK index is up 0.8% at 1,501. While the BSE Auto, PSU, Health Care and Metal indices have gained around 0.5% each at 2,328, 3,652, 2,586 and 4,934, respectively, the BSE FMCG index is down 0.3% at 905.

Sensex @1005 hrs:

The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 11 points at 5,691. Fresh buying in the markets following a bouyant close at the Wall Street saw the index rally to a high of 5,728. The index is now up 46 points at 5,726. The Nifty is at 1,800 - up 14 points.

Infosys, Satyam and Wipro have spurted over a per cent each to Rs 1,782, Rs 402 and Rs 647, respectively.

Reliance is up a per cent (Rs 5) at Rs 556. ITC and HLL are also heading higher at Rs 1,110 and Rs 127, respectively
