April 01, 2004 16:01 IST

India's biggest motorcycle maker Hero Honda Motors on Thursday said its sales grew by 23.4 per cent during 2003-04 over the previous fiscal.

A total of 20.7 lakh (2.07 million) units were sold during the last fiscal against 16.7 lakh (1.67 million) units in 2002-03, a company statement said in New Delhi.

Its March sales grew 66 per cent to 192,000 units over 115,000 units in the same month last year.

The market share would reach 47 per cent during the year, it claimed.

Its exports grew by 72 per cent to 39,255 units.

The company rolled out entry-level motorcycle CD-Dawn, Splendor, Passion Plus, top-end Karizma and restyled Ambition 135 during 2003-04.

"This (sales growth) is a direct outcome of our customer focussed strategies," Hero Honda managing director Pawan Kant Munjal said.
