Sensex up 36 points at close

In an another choppy trading session, the markets displayed volatile movements in morning session and slipped to a low of 4,736. The index, however, displayed fluctuating trends in the mid-noon session, as it spurted to a high of 4,805, but finally shedding some gains on selective selling pressure to close at 4,780 - up 36 points. The Nifty ended firm with a gain of 19 points at 1,517.

HLL, after an impressive quarterly results, displayed mixed trends through the session, but finally ended down a per cent (Rs 2) at Rs 175. ITC, too, had a mixed outing, and closed down a rupee at Rs 860. Reliance, however, held gains on buying support, and added Rs 4 to Rs 478.

BHEL, on an unprecedented buying support, jumped 8% (Rs 35) to Rs 461. HPCL slipped from higher levels towards the fag-end to finish down a per cent (Rs 2) at Rs 323. SBI also ended on a lacklustre note after early gains at Rs 480 - down Rs 6.

Infosys traded with steady gains, and closed up a per cent (Rs 44) at Rs 4,602. HCL Tech attracted buying support in mid-noon trades, and moved up 5% (Rs 9) to Rs 205. Satyam ended with a rupee gain at Rs 290.

BSES soared 7% (Rs 31) to Rs 449. Tisco, on the back of a impressive quarterly results, attracted considerable buying interest, and rose 5% (Rs 17) to Rs 348.
