Sensex tanks 104 points at close

The Sensex touched a low of 4,689 before finally closing with a loss of 104 points at 4,698.

HLL tanked more than 4% (Rs 8) to Rs 180. Reliance dropped 3.6% (Rs 17) to Rs 458. ITC was down Rs 10 at Rs 863.

Infosys lost nearly 3% (Rs 130) to Rs 4,443. Satyam plummetted 6% (Rs 17) to Rs 284.

SBI was down Rs 17 at Rs 481. BHEL, HPCL and MTNL also declined today.

Tata Motors declined more than 4% (Rs 17) to Rs 366. Hero Honda was also down, but Bajaj firmed up Rs 16 to Rs 879.

Grasim was down Rs 6 at Rs 751. ACC, Gujarat Ambuja and L&T also declined.

HDFC was firm right through the session, and closed with a gain of 14 points at 536. ICICI Bank was up Rs 4 at Rs 230.

Tisco lost nearly 5% (Rs 17) to Rs 329. BSES slipped 4% (Rs 19) to Rs 412. Hindalco plummetted 4% (Rs 39) to Rs 1,003.
