Tata Indicom cuts ISD rates by 70%

Tata Indicom has slashed ISD tariffs by upto 70 per cent for calls to select international destinations including UK and by up to 60 per cent for calls originating from non-metros to places like the US, Canada and Europe.

The cut, in line with other service providers, is under the company's special festive bonanza, Tata Teleservices Ltd, owner of Tata Indicom brand, said in a release in Mumbai on Thursday.

The reduction is for calls made from the company's landline, fixed wireless terminals and payphones, and would be effective from midnight of Saturday for a one-month period, it said.

Customers in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra (excluding Mumbai) can now make calls to the US, Canada and Europe at Rs 9.60 per minute, down from the existing rates of Rs 24 per minute, the release said.

The festive rates allows a special rate for calls to the UK at Rs 7.2 per minute with a 10-second pulse rate, while that for the US, Canada and rest of Europe would be at a 7.5-second count, it said.

Tata said that calls made from its CDMA mobile phones to the US, Canada and Europe would be charged at Rs 8 per minute at a 60-second pulse rate.

For the customers in metros of Mumbai and Delhi, the calls would be charged at Rs 14.40 per minute, which is a reduction by 40 per cent from the existing rates, it added.
