Designer Deepika Govind celebrated the beauty of Patola at Lakme Fashion Week on Day Three. Photographs: Uttam Ghosh

Paying tribute to Patan Patola (the ancient art of double ikat weaving practiced in Gujarat), Deepika Govind's collection 'Pop Patola' featured whimsical Western and Indian silhouettes featuring fun motifs like cars, buses, fruits, flowers, planes and TV sets.

Combining single and double ikats with silks and satins, the designer incorporated a wide range of hues from yellow and magenta to aqua and violet into garments that covered everything from peplum tops to dhoti trousers and saris.

Seen here is a funky sari possessed of the very traits we've mentioned above.
