Weightlifter Saikhom Mirabai Chanu became India's first medalist at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

'Due to our financial situation I almost had to quit training, but kept going,' the silver medallist revealed on Instagram.

After a mysterious and serious back injury in 2018, Mirabai was worried that she would never be able to lift again, but she kept going.

'I persevere for my community,' shared the 26 year old who has become an inspiration for many young Indian girls.
