The product under review is a curved, 4K ultra-HD smart TV.

But the aforementioned features are not its top selling points.

It's a 50-inch LED screen selling for less than ₹40,000 online.

In a price-sensitive market, Mitashi is following the footsteps of Micromax, VU, Lloyd, Thomson and others by launching LED TVs that massively undercut the flagships of Sony, LG and Samsung.

On paper, it packs the same features for half the price and that makes for a good sales pitch.

But cutting costs brings with it compromises that buyers must be willing to make.

The sound, however, is likely to fall short of filling up an entire living room -- a common problem with most large-sized TVs in this price range.

Apart from the standard features that let you connect cable TV, a laptop, a gaming console and USB devices (the side panel with the necessary fittings is easy to access), this smart TV allows you to go on the internet and download apps such as YouTube, Gmail and Netflix from the Google Play Store.

These apps use the TV's built-in Wi-Fi, but the signal strength drops if the LED is placed in a different room than the router, which means that the apps load slowly and videos buffer or pixelate.

To navigate within the apps, type in the search bar and write emails, the TV comes with a little air mouse-cum-keyboard that, most noticeably, is missing a backspace button.

So if you make a mistake, you either have to use the on-screen keyboard or delete the whole thing and type again. Both are bothersome.

We found the wireless screen-mirroring feature unreliable.

You may have to reconnect your phone or tablet more than a few times.

You're better off using a Google Chromecast or an Amazon Fire TV Stick.

It's an immersive experience to watch sports in HD or a movie in 4K from your bed on this TV, though.

And that's what you should buy it for.

The add-on features do just enough to make the proposition attractive.
