Chinese phone maker realme is changing the face of budget phones sold in India by adding a premium appeal to its pocket friendly models.

Its latest product is an upgrade from its realme X and realme 5 Pro -- the realme 6 and realme 6 Pro.

Both the models feature 90 Hz refresh rate display, 64 MP main camera and 30 W fast charging along with punch hole selfie cameras -- most of which are premium features found on flagship phones these days.

realme 6 Pro

Realme 6 Pro is the superior one among the two; it comes with a glass design protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 both in the front and back.

The 6.45" inch phone is embedded with a 6.6" inch LCD display with punch hole dual cameras.

It is powered by AI (Artificial Intelligence) based SoC (System on Chip) by Qualcomm as Snapdragon 720G and Adreno 618 GPU for gaming and graphics.

The three RAM + ROM variants -- 8 GB + 128 GB, 6 GB + 128 GB and 6 GB + 64 GB -- are priced at Rs 18,999, Rs 17,999 and Rs 16,999 respectively.

Besides, it supports a dedicated microSD card slot for memory expansion.

The quad camera setup in the rear comes with basic features like wide, portrait, macro, and zoom.

The ultra-wide lens camera with 8 MP sensor has an aperture of f/2.3 and 119 degree FOV (Field of View) for shooting landscapes or capture more scene in the photo.

The main camera has 64 MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture lens which is good for low light photography.

The 12 MP sensor telephoto camera comes with an aperture of f/2.5. This camera with the help of the 64MP main camera allows you to digitally zoom to the subject up to 20X.

The camera app features Ultra Nightscape mode to enhance low light photography and allows you to click RAW photos for post processing.

For video, the camera supports EIS (Electronic Image Stabiliser) as UIS and UIS Max to negate the camera shakes and give smooth footage.

With the 2 MP sensor macro lens with f/2.4 aperture you can shoot macro and go as close as 4 cm.

In the front there are two 16 MP wide angle camera for selfie portrait and 8 MP ultra-wide camera for group selfies.

The phone is embedded with a 4300 mAh battery that can be fast charged with 30 W VOOC (Voltage Open Loop Multi-step Constant-Current Charging) technology.

realme 6

The realme 6 has almost the same hardware as the pro variant but reduced features to make it more affordable.

It has a plastic build frame with a plastic back.

The phone is embedded with MediaTek's Helio G90T SoC.

The three variants of RAM + ROM -- 8 GB + 128 GB, 6 GB + 128 GB and 4 GB + 64 GB -- are priced Rs 15,999, Rs 14,999 and Rs 12,999 respectively.

For its quad camera setup in the rear, it replaces the 12MP telephoto (found in realme 6 Pro) with a 2MP B/W depth sensing camera for portrait.

There is only one 16 MP punch hole camera in the front.

For charging its 4300 mAh battery it bundles a 30 W fast charger without the VOOC technology.

Both realme 6 Pro and realme 6 have a side mounted fingerprint sensor.

Verdict

Considering it's a budget phone, features like 90Hz display, 64MP main sensor in a quad camera setup and a punch hole camera design are a huge draw.

For a starting price of Rs 16,999 and Rs 12,999, both the realme 6 Pro and realme 6 offer real value for money.
