Girls have once again outshone boys both in class X (ICSE) and class XII (ISC) examinations, results of which were declared today.
The pass percentage in class X Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) examination stood at 98.49 per cent and 96.28 per cent in class XII Indian School Certificate (ISC) examination.
The examinations are conducted by Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE).
While girls did marginally better in class X examination with a pass percentage of 98.95 per cent as opposed to 98.12 per cent in case of boys, they did far better than boys in class XII with the difference in pass percentage being over two per cent.
The pass percentage of girls stood at 97.49 per cent as compared to 95.27 per cent in case of boys.
Last year too, the girls had fared better than boys in both classes -- X and XII.
In the class X examination this year, the top position has been shared by three students -- Sougata Chowdhury from Kolkata, Ananya Harshad Patwardhan and Tezan Papan Sahu from Mumbai.
They scored 99.20 per cent.
The second position is bagged by three students scoring 99 per cent and the third place by 11 students securing 98.80 per cent.
Likewise, in the class XII examination, the pole position is bagged by Arkya Chatterjee from Kolkata who scored 99.75 per cent.
The second position is shared by four students with a score of 99.50 per cent and the third place by 13 students who scored 99.25 per cent.
Meanwhile, Rupal Goel from Holy Child School, Ghaziabad, topped ISC class XII Examination 2015 in Delhi-NCR region, with a score of 99 per cent.
Yashvardhan Tomar of St Mary's Academy in Meerut Cantt, also included in CISCE's Delhi-NCR region, topped ICSE (class X) exams securing 99 per cent marks.
Among other students who scored well in the ISC class XII examination include Aditya Maru from Shri Ram School, Gurgaon; Sanyam Gupta from St Mary's Academy, Meerut and Chaitanya Gupta from Shri Ram School, Gurgaon who secured second place with 98.25 per cent marks.
A total of 1793 students had appeared in the class XII examination this year and the overall pass percentage is 97.27.
The ICSE (class X) examination was taken by 3,790 students in the Delhi-NCR region.
The overall pass percentage is 98.50.
Girls with pass percentage of 99.14 overshadowed the boys whose pass percentage stood at 97.94 per cent.
Harshita Choudhary of Shri Ram School, Gurgaon, secured the second rank by scoring 98.80 per cent marks while Shreyansh Sinha of St Paul's Academy, Ghazibad, and Dhruv Pandey of St Mary's Academy, Meerut, shared third rank by scoring 98.40 per cent marks.
"The toppers in both class X and class XII have broken the record of the last five years with the percentage secured this year," said chief executive officer of CISCE Gerry Arathoon.
In terms of region wise performance, Southern region recorded the highest pass percentage in both the classes.
The pass percentage for classes X and XII stood at 99.66 per cent and 99.08 per cent respectively.
