England fast bowler Steven Finn took a bizarre World Cup hat-trickoff the last three balls in Saturday's clash against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Australia thrashed arch rivals England by 111 runs on opening day but Finn, 25, grabbed some consolation when he became the first English bowler to take a hat-trick at a World Cup.

Finn removed Brad Haddin, Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Johnson to deny Australia a record total of 344 as they closed on 342-9.
