India suffered another injury blow ahead of the third and final Test against New Zealand, starting in Indore on Saturday, after pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar was ruled out with injury.
"Kumar has been ruled out of the third Test of the Paytm Test series against New Zealand after he sustained a back strain in the second Test at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata," Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary Ajay Shirke said in a media release on Wednesday.
Mumbai medium pacer Shardul Thakur was named as the replacement for Bhuvneshwar.
India, who have sealed the three-match series 2-0, are already missing KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan because of injuries. They were replaced by Gautam Gambhir and Karun Nair respectively.
