Will India finally unleash 15-Year-Old Sooryavanshi?

image

The spotlight will be firmly on 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi as India begin their five-match T20I series against England in Chester-le-Street on Wednesday.

While fans continue to call for the teenage sensation's international debut, captain Shreyas Iyer has made it clear that India will not rush into making changes to a squad that lifted the T20 World Cup just a few months ago.

Speculation over Sooryavanshi's inclusion has followed the Indian team since he was picked for the tours of Ireland and England, but the youngster is still waiting for his first senior cap after missing the Ireland series.

Speaking ahead of the opening T20I, Iyer stressed the importance of backing players who have already delivered on the biggest stage.

"All the players in the team have performed well. It's not that only one individual has performed well," Iyer told reporters.

If India decide to hand Sooryavanshi his debut, they may have to break up their successful opening partnership of Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma, making the selection one of the biggest talking points ahead of the series opener.
