KKR 161-all out (16 ovs) vs SRH 226-8 | SCORECARD

Led by a clinical performance from their pacers, Sunrisers Hyderabad trounced Kolkata Knight Riders by 65 runs in Kolkata.

Unadkat led the way with 3/21, while Malinga and Reddy bagged two wickets each as the pace trio did well with the change of pace in the middle overs.

Raghuvanshi was the lone KKR batter to get a measure of the wicket, stroking a quickfire 52 from 29 balls.

Allen Finn had smashed a blistering 28 from seven balls, including two sixes and three fours off the first over.

But his dismissal to spinner Harsh Dubey turned the tide as SRH kept chipping away at the wickets before bowling out KKR for 161 in 16 overs.

This is KKR's second straight loss while SRH recovered after the opening day loss to RCB.

Earlier, Heinrich Klaasen hit a strokeful fifty as Sunrisers Hyderabad posted a challenging 226/8 -- the highest total this season.

Sent in to bat, Travis Head (46) and Abhishek Sharma (48) shared an opening stand of 82 runs off 34 balls to set up the platform, while Klaasen (52) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (39) provided the late charge.

For KKR, Blessing Muzarabani (4/41), Vaibhav Arora (2/47) Kartik Tyagi (1/48) and Anukul Roy (1/16) shared the wickets.

SRH keep chipping away at the wickets. Eshan Malinga, back in the attack, strikes with the crucial wicket of Narine, who mistimes the slower ball and is caught at long-on for 12.

Two balls later, he all but ends KKR's hopes with the wicket of their last specialist batter in Ramandeep.

The change of pace does the trick once again as Ramandeep hits the last ball straight to Unadkat at point to walk back for 10.

KKR need 68 from the last five overs with just two wickets in hand.
22:50

Nitish Reddy strikes again; KKR 6 down

image

KKR 151-6 (14 ovs) vs SRH 226-8 | SCORECARD

Ramandeep makes a move as he reverse sweeps Shivang for a boundary over point and then takes one to midwicket.

The asking rate has jumped over 13 with KKR needing a couple of big overs to get it under 12.

Rinku does well to make room and loft the spinner inside out over the covers for a six to release the pressure.

14 runs from the over as Shivang finishes with 41 from his four overs.

Reddy strikes again in his second over, with the crucial wicket of Rinku. The KKR left-hander, who stroked 35 from 25 balls, mistimes the cut shot off the slower ball and is caught by Undkat at short thirdman.

Sunil Narine, who has opened for KKR in the past, walks in at No 8. He shows his prowess with the bat as he pulls Reddy for a six over midwicket to get off the mark in grand style.

He bags another six off the next ball as he lofts Reddy down the ground but Dubey at long-on fails to take the catch with the ball bursting through his hands.

Narine's back to back sixes has revived KKR's hopes.

KKR 123-5 (12 ovs) vs SRH 226-8 | SCORECARD

image

KKR 120-4 (11 ovs) vs SRH 226-8 | SCORECARD

Shivang continues as Rinku hits the second ball through the covers for a four followed by singles off the next two balls.

Rinku makes a lot of room before he cuts Shivang past point for another four.

However, KKR's progress is dented by the wicket of the well-set Raghuvanshi, who is run out.

Rinku had cut the spinner towards point as both batters are guilty of ball watching. Raghuvanshi is sent back halfway down but fails to make his ground and is run out after a quickfire 52 from 29 balls.

Malinga does well to collect the ball cleanly and fire a flat throw back to the non-striker's end.

This is a big blow for KKR's hopes as they slip to 120/4 in 11 overs.
22:30

Raghuvanshi hits 27-ball fifty to keep KKR in the hunt

KKR 110-3 (10 ovs) vs SRH 226-8 | SCORECARD

Shivang continues as Raghuvanshi plays the cut shot but Dubey loses his footing and misses an easy stop to give away four runs.

Raghuvanshi is beaten trying to cut the spinner as wicketkeeper Kishan appeals immediately before he takes the DRS.

The ball has clearly missed the bat as SRH lose the review. Another poor piece from fielding from SRH this time from Payne, who slips and lets the ball through to concede three runs.

Rinku chips the fifth ball inside out over the covers and shockingly Reddy has slipped this time to concede a four as KKR bring up their 100 in nine overs.

Shivang ends up giving away 12 runs in his second over when he should have conceded four or five runs.

David Payne, who was smashed for 25 runs in the opening over, is back into the attack.

KKR 88-3 (8 ovs) vs SRH 226-8 | SCORECARD

Left-arm wrist spinner Shivang Kumar comes into the attack. Rinku can't get bat to ball off the first two balls before he takes a single to long-on.

A superb googly from the spinner to beat Raghuvanshi on the outside edge before he cuts the next but can't beat the fielder at point.

He manages to slice the last ball over the fielder at point to get a much-needed boundary for KKR.

A tidy first over from debutant Shivang as he concedes just five runs.

Unadkat back into the attack. He gets some extra bounce to beat Rinku on the outside edge, who then miscues the next on the off-side but it falls just short of deep extra cover.

Raghuvanshi continues to find the boundaries as he cuts the pacer behind point for a four.

He again cuts the next ball but the fielder at sweeper cover puts in the dive to keep it down to two runs followed by singles off the last two balls.

Green run out for 2; KKR in trouble

KKR 74-3 (6 ovs) vs SRH 226-8 | SCORECARD

Cameron Green at No 4 needs a big knock at his home ground to silence his critics after the outrage over him not bowling in the IPL so far.

Sri Lankan pacer Eshan Malinga comes into the attack, replacing Dubey who bowled an excellent spell of 1/17 in two overs striking with the key wicket of Allen.

Malinga starts with a wide down the leg side but his change of pace proving very effective.

Both Green and Raghuvanshi are restricted to singles but Malinga concedes two more wides as he struggles with his control of the slower ball.

Disaster for KKR as the well-set Raghuvanshi is run out off the final ball of the Powerplay.

The right-hander stroked an attractive 31 from 17 balls before he tried to steal a run off a misfield from the bowler.

But the ball didn't go very far and Malinga recovered quickly to break the bails at the non-striker's end.

The TV umpire checking to see whether the two batters had crossed each other. But Green had not passed Raghuvanshi as the Australian is ruled run out.

Green is given run out for 2 as KKR slip to 74/3 in six overs.

Allen walks back after a quickfire 28 from seven balls, having hit four fours and two sixes.

However, he gets the shot right next ball scooping the pacer over the thirdman region for a six.

Klaasen picks a single before Reddy slams back to back boundaries off Tyagi, both down the leg side.

Reddy swings at a high full toss but fails to make clean connection. The ball travels to Chakravarthy, who dives forward at deep midwicket but fails to hold on to the catch.

Reddy has reviewed it for a high full toss but the ball is clearly below the waist height.

That single brings up SRH's 200 in 18 overs.

Heinrich Klaasen gets off the mark with a single before Muzarabani deals SRH another huge blow with the wicket of Abhishek.

Chakravarthy has taken an outstanding catch running in from deep square leg, taking it inches from the ground.

However, the umpires want to have another look as TV umpire Nitin Menon is asked to review the catch.

The umpire believes Chakravarthy's fingers are underneath the ball as Abhishek walks back in disbelief.

Abhishek is dismissed after a quickfire 48 from 21 balls as SRH lose two wickets in space of three balls.

Muzarabani has got KKR back in the contest with his double strike as SRH are reduced to 112/3 in the ninth over.

Tyagi strikes; Travis Head out for 46

SRH 110-1 (8 ovs) vs KKR | SCORECARD

Narine bowls short as Abhishek swats it over square leg for a six to continue the aggressive start for SRH and takes two runs off the last ball through the off-side to get 14 from the over.

With Chakravarthy struggling, KKR will need an inspired spell in the middle overs from one of their pacers.

Head, on 34 from 16 balls, gets a lifeline as he skies Narine high on the off-side looking to loft it down the ground.

KKR captain Rahane running back from the covers is unable to get to a difficult chance.

A tidy start from Narine as he gives away three runs in his first over inside the Powerplay.

That encourages Rahane to bring in Varun Chakravarthy from the other end.

However, Abhishek goes after his India team-mate. He lofts the first ball high over long-on for a six to welcome Varun to the bowling crease.

Two balls later, he swings the spinner wide of long-on for another six and hammers the third ball over the off-side for a four.

'Green will bowl really soon': Rahane

Kolkata Knight Riders captain Ajinkya Rahane has won the toss and elected to bowl against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2026 match in Kolkata on Thursday.

'Usually we don't see much grass on this pitch here, there is some rain around so we wanted to bowl first,' said Rahane at the toss.

'Green is doing everything he needs to do, the physio is looking after him. You will see him bowl really soon,' he added.

Meanwhile, SRH captain Ishan Kishan is hoping for Australia Test and ODI captain Pat Cummins to be available soon.

'I don't know. Hopefully he should recover as soon as possible,' he said.

Can SRH bounce back against depleted KKR?

image

Sunrisers Hyderabad suffered a six-wicket thrashing at the hands of RCB in their opening game of IPL 2026.

Except for Ishan Kishan, who smashed 80 from 38 balls, all the other SRH batters flopped against a clinical RCB bowling unit.

SRH's big strength is their power-packed batting line-up and they will be looking towards the likes of Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen to rediscover their form against a depleted KKR bowling attack.

KKR's bowling woes were also exposed against Mumbai Indians. While they posted a huge 220/4 in their 20 overs, their bowling attack was taken to the cleaners by Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton as MI chased down the runs in 19.1 overs.

The major worry for KKR was the performance of their spin twins Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine against MI, both of whom went for plenty.

Welcome to the coverage of the sixth match of IPL 2026 between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Thursday.

KKR will be desperate for their spinners to rediscover the bite against Sunrisers Hyderabad in an IPL match involving two batting-heavy sides.

This fixture also marks the start of a crucial home stretch for three-time champions KKR, who will play three matches in seven days and another on April 19 before the Kolkata leg pauses for nearly a month due to the upcoming assembly polls.

Historically, Eden Gardens has been a stronghold of KKR, winning 54 out of 95 matches since 2008.

However, KKR's start has already hit a few early bumps as expectedly with their thin bowling resources.

They seemed to have assembled a well-rounded pace attack but injuries and availability issues had blunted their firepower.

Harshit Rana and Akash Deep are ruled out, Matheesha Pathirana is yet to get an NOC from Sri Lanka Cricket, and Cameron Green -- their Rs 25.20 crore overseas acquisition -- is currently available only as a batter.

But the bigger worry will be the struggle of spinners -- Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy.

Chakravarthy went wicketless and conceded 48 runs, continuing his profligate ways since the latter part of the T20 World Cup, while Narine bowled just three overs and was introduced only after the Powerplay.

Sunrisers find themselves in a similar position after starting their campaign with a loss to reigning champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

SRH boast a star-studded top order comprising Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Travis Head.

But their bowling looks vulnerable -- especially in the absence of Pat Cummins, who is yet to return to full match fitness -- as they failed to defend 201 against RCB.

The KKR vs SRH IPL rivalry has long been one-sided. In 30 clashes, KKR has dominated with 20 wins, leaving SRH with just 10 victories.
