Hello & welcome to tonight’s live coverage of the IPL 2023 playoffs. The stage is set for the Eliminator of the 16th edition of the glitzy tournament. We have a cracking contest headed our way from the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
In the knockout match, Mumbai Indians will take on Lucknow Super Giants. The winner of tonight’s contest will meet Gujarat Titans in the second Qualifier. It’s simple - win it and you have a shot at making it to the finals; lose it and your campaign comes to an end.
Mumbai Indians have been in this situation all too many times. They’re known to come out victorious is big-ticket games and once again Rohit Sharma’s men are peaking at the right time.
Meanwhile, Lucknow, one of the two new franchises to join the league in the previous edition, will hope to take a step forward to pick up their maiden title. Lucknow were eliminated at the same stage last year.
The path to the playoffs hasn’t been smooth for either. But none of it matters as it all comes down to this one game. But Krunal Pandya-led LSG have the scales tilted slightly in their favour, having won all three previous matches against Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai.
