Bengal in their first innings were 195 for the loss of three wickets against host Gujarat when the stumps were drawn on the first day of the Ranji Trophy Elite Group 'B' match at Lalbhai Contractor stadium in Surat on Sunday.

Earlier Gujarat skipper Mukund Parmar won the toss and elected to field.

Bengal's opener Arindham Das scored 64 runs, executing nine fours before being run out by Niraj Patel.

Abhishek Jhunjunwala made a vital 72 with nine fours before he was caught at cover by Akash Christian off Siddarth Trivedi.

Trivedi took two wickets for 32.

Rohan Gavaskar who played a patient innings remained not out at 26, hitting four fours along with the night watchman Manoj Tiwari at two at stumps.

Parthiv Patel did not play due to ill health.
