Maharashtra beat Tamil Nadu by 9 wickets

Maharashtra won their Elite Division Group 'A' Ranji Trophy match against Tamil Nadu by nine wickets on the fourth and final day at Anant Kanhere ground in Nashik on Tuesday.

Maharashtra, who needed 200 runs in their second innings to gain four points from the match, reached the target in 93.4 overs, with opening batsman Dhiraj Jadhav remaining unbeaten on 79, inclusive of 13 fours, and skipper Hrishikesh Kanitkar not out on 56, with seven boundaries and a six.

Chasing the victory target, openers Satyajit Satbhai and Dhiraj Jadhav started the Maharashtra innings in style, the former hitting two boundaries in the first over of the day.

Satbhai reached his half ton by lofting Badiranath over mid-wicket for a six. The Satbhai-Jadhav partnership was worth 83 runs for the first wicket for Maharashtra.

Soon after the lunch left-handed opener Jadhav scored his half century.

Southpaws Jadhav and Kanitkar's unbeaten stand brought 119 runs for the second wicket in 95 minutes from 135 balls.

Jadhav, who had also slammed a century in the first innings, was adjudged Man of the Match.

Maharashtra have four points from as many matches now whereas Tamil Nadu have five points. Scorecard
