Jasvir Singh scored a dogged fifty to help Services rally to 161 for nine in the second innings and secure a draw against Uttar Pradesh on day four of the Ranji Trophy Elite Division match at the K.D Singh Babu Stadium, Lucknow on Monday.

In the morning, Uttar Pradesh, resuming on 430 for nine added six runs to the total to finish at 436 and take a first-innings lead of 155 runs and earn two points from the tie.

Services, who began their second essay on the fourth day, looked in some trouble at 80 for four but a 59-run partnership between Jasvir Singh and captain Sarabjit Singh helped to calm things down. The two batsmen batted cautiously for 33 overs and bought enough time for the team to rally to a draw.

Jasvir spent more than three hours at the crease to score 56 runs from 200 balls, while Sarabjit gathered 21 runs in 97 balls.

Young spinner Piyush Chawla [Images] and Ashish Zaidi took two wickets each for Uttar Pradesh to give them a shot at victory.
