An unbeaten century by Vinit Indulkar (117 not out) and his unfinished 119-run partnership with Omkar J Khanvilkar (23) for the fifth wicket put Mumbai in the driver's seat in the Ranji Trophy Elite Group 'A' match against Karnataka in Bangalore on Saturday.

Overnight one for no loss, Mumbai finished day 2 on 237 for four, a first innings lead of 51 runs, with six wickets in hand.

The visitors lost their first wicket when debutant Kukreja (22) was run out with the total 48. But Wasim Jaffer [Images], who scored a double century in the earlier match against Delhi, came up with a useful 63 in the company of Khanvilkar before being out leg before to Udit Patel after the team crossed the three figure mark (103).

Mumbai lost two more wickets in quick session before Indulkar and Khanvilkar steered the score past the Karnataka total.

Indulkar's magnificent effort came in 244 minutes off 209 balls. It included 18 boundaries.

The Karnataka bowlers toiled to break the partnership but in vain.

Patel was the only successful bowler, claiming two of the four wickets that fell before the match was called off 10 minutes before the schedule close due to bad light.
