Radio Mid-Day West India Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Mid-Day Multimedia Ltd, has sent a conditional notice to the information and broadcasting ministry to surrender its FM license in Mumbai (Go 92.5 FM), effective Sunday.

On May 27,  private FM channel Win 94.6 too went off air, citing high licence fees.

Radio Mid-Day cited 'unviable license structure' as the cause for surrendering the license, according to a company notice sent to the Bombay Stock Exchange on Friday.

Despite several representations to the Union government, the I&B ministry has not agreed to change the existing licensing structure for the private broadcaster, the notice added.

The notice said that if the government changes the licensing structure by Saturday, then it would withdraw the notice and continue operations on revised terms and conditions.
