Software and services exports from India are expected to grow 34 per cent year-on-year in 2004-05, two per cent more than the target set by National Association of Software and Service Companies.

"Exports of software and services from India are expected to grow 34 per cent in 2004-05," Nasscom president Kiran Karnik said on the sidelines of a press conference.

India exported $13.3 billion worth of software and services in 2003-04 and in this fiscal, the revenues from exports are expected to be around $17.9 billion.

"The higher than expected growth is likely because industry is doing well and the customers have realised the value of doing business in India," he said.

"Overall the Indian IT industry (exports and domestic market) is expected to grow around 33.5 per cent," Karnik said.

In 2003-04, the size of the Indian IT industry was $15.9 billion and in 2004-05, it is expected to cross $20 billion.
