Industry associations and companies in the United States, including the US Chamber of Commerce, Coalition of Services Industries and the iconic bike company Harley Davidson have called on the Donald Trump dispensation to push India to reduce tariffs, non-tariffs, and regulatory barriers to boost American exports.
In a letter to US lawmakers, Chamber Executive Vice President (Government Affairs) R Bruce Josten said countries have already started taking retaliatory measures in response to the 'Buy American' provisions of the stimulus package. 'The 'Buy American' requirements are having a major impact on projects administered by state and local governments, resulting in declining trade and lost jobs for American workers,' the letter said.
The Chinese government had "planned" the Galwan incident in June even as Beijing ramped up its multiyear coercion campaign against its neighbours, provoking military or paramilitary standoffs with countries from Japan to India, the United States top panel said in its report released on Wednesday.
