Q. Commerce between India and Greece started prior to Alexander's invasion, which is proved by the availability of ancient Greek coins in some Indian ports namely Sopara (now it is a suburb of Mumbai and is known as Nala Sopara). But strangely enough, no Indian coins prior to Mauryan period have been found any where in the world. Does it mean that unlike other ancient civilizations, Indians did not develop coins prior to Mauryans.
