Q. In a scathing observation that underscores d Govts insensitivity to gender issues, d Supreme Court on Friday said the Centre's move 2 equate 36 crore housewives with beggars, prostitutes in the 2001 Census was unfair n wholly uncalled for. Such an equation clearly disrespects the sentiments of every son and daughter in this country who share immense affection with their mothers who are mostly housewives. It appears that those who are doing household duties like cooking, cleaning of utensils, looking after children etc equated wid beggars, prostitutes n prisoners. Comments pl.
