India also emerged as Dubai's top exporting and re-exporting country at $5.7 billion and came second in terms of imports at $5.17 billion, following China at $6.94 billion.
According to Dubai Customs figures released on Tuesday, China and the US came second and third in the list of countries exporting to Dubai, with value of $2.9 billion (10.68 billion) and $2.04 billion (7.52 billion dirhams) respectively.
China came in second with 29 billion dirhams at 12 per cent, followed by the US which contributed eight per cent to the total imports with a value of 18.7 billion dirhams. Germany and Japan scored 12 billion dirhams and 11 billion dirhams of imports values, respectively.
Pakistan pace bowler Mohammad Asif's detention in Dubai was result of a misunderstanding and charges of possessing contraband drugs against the pacer has been dropped, according to Pakistan Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Ahsan Ullah Khan. Khan claimed a misunderstanding led to Asif's detention in Dubai airport on Sunday on his way home from Mumbai after the pacer participated in the Indian Premier League.
