Dr Seshadri Ramkumar, associate professor, Institute of Environmental and Human Health, Texas Tech University, has been honoured as Scientist of the Year, 2009, by the Lubbock Chapter of Achievement Rewards for College Scientists."Normally, very senior scientists who have reached national prominence get the honour," Ramkumar said. "This time, they were gracious to recognise me for my successful result using the nonwoven wipe and its technology transfer."
The non-woven military wipe can be used to protect and clean soldiers and military aircraft that have been contaminated with lethal chemicals. The wipe technology developed at Texas Tech has been evaluated for its protection against toxic chemicals and is proved to be one of the best dry-wipe technology available.
Dr Seshadri Ramkumar, who is working to open a new world of nonwoven fabrics and advanced materials for industrial and personal use, has been awarded the Texas Tech University System's Chancellor's Council Distinguished Research Award.
