Authorities imposed restrictions in major parts of the summer capital Srinagar Friday to foil a march to the gutted shrine of Peer Dastager Sahib at Khanyar.
The J&K police, late on Wednesday evening, picked up a youngster they allege was involved in posting abusive threats to the all-girl band 'Pragaash'.
The commission to be headed by justice Bashir-ud-Din, a retired judge of the state high court. He will be assisted by another retired judge, Justice YP Nargotra.
Kashmir's Grand Mufti Mufti Bashir-ud-Din, Saturday asked Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad to undertake penance for his recent utterances asking people to adopt Gandhian philosophy for worldly success. In an edict (Fatwa) issued by him, the Grand Mufti said that in case "he does not undergo penance for his utterance, his act would be considered as anti-Islam."
The army should refrain from interfering in religious places and instead focus on developmental activities, grand Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir Bashiruddin said.
"It (suicide) is haram (forbidden) in Islam. Islam has strictly prohibited such a step," the state's grand mufti Bashir-ud-Din said in a fatwa, a copy of which was faxed to PTI in Srinagar.
