The India Army has treated 53,082 flood victims in Jammu and Kashmir, where 80 medical teams of the Armed Forces Medical Services are already operating in full swing.
Over 600 people including more than 130 university students and an old French couple were taken to safety on Friday by a coordinated team of defence and NDRF personnel.
The government also said it will hold consultations with the airlines to explore the possibility of curbing the menace of charging exorbitant airfares during emergency situations.
