Impressive Railways continued their winning streak and made it to the last four of the 65th National Football Championship, for the Santosh Trophy, after defeating Services 2-1 in their last quarter-final league match in Guwahati on Tuesday.
But despite losing to Railways, Services pipped Goa [ Images ] and Punjab [ Images ] on superior goal difference to become the second team to qualify for the semi-finals, after Goa and Punjab played out a 1-1 draw in the last quarter-final match of Group B, at the Nehru Stadium.
Railways finished top of Group B with 9 points, while Services, Punjab and Goa finished with two points in their kitty.
Services now take on Manipur in the first semi-final, to be played on May 26, while Railways play defending champions West Bengal [ Images ] in the second semi-final a day later.
The final will be played on May 30.
