Sixteen-year-old sensation Kateryna Bondarenko of Ukraine bagged a double crown in the US $10,000 NECC-ITF women's circuit tennis tournament, which concluded at the Deccan Gymkhana courts in Pune, on Saturday.

The young Ukrainian star, who in the process won the first senior title of her career, outslugged Ipek Senoglu of Turkey 6-1, 6-1 to capture the women's singles crown.

Bondarenko had on Friday teamed up with her interpreter Akgul Amanmuradvo to bag the women's doubles title at the expense of the Indian combination of Sania Mirza and Radhika Tulpule.

Kateryna pocketed US $1600 for the singles victory and $325 as her share of the doubles prizwe.

The 23-year-old Ipek had been carrying the niggle since the last three months and it got aggravated after her sensational victory in the semi-finals yesterday over second seed Jennifer Schmidt of Austria.

"I did not want to disappoint the lovers of the game and had to reluctantly take up to the court today," Ipek said.

Kateryna, finding her opponent half fit, tightened her hold on the game from the word go. All she needed was just two breaks in the fourth and sixth games in the first set and first, third and sixth in the second, to win her first major singles title in the ITF women's cricruit.

The triumph gave her five ITF points.
