Everton knocked holders Chelsea [ Images ] out of the FA Cup when they won their fourth-round replay 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge [ Images ] on Saturday.
With the shootout scores at 3-3, Ashley Cole [ Images ] missed his penalty for Chelsea and Everton captain Phil Neville sealed the victory by scoring with his kick.
An extra-time goal from Frank Lampard [ Images ] looked like giving Chelsea a 1-0 win to keep them on course to become the first club for 125 years to win the FA Cup three times in succession.
Leighton Baines however, equalised for Everton with a free kick in the last minute of extra time.
Everton will now face Championship (second division) Reading in the fifth round.
Three FA Cup fifth-round ties were going ahead later on Saturday with Premier League Birmingham City [ Images ] facing League One (third division) Sheffield Wednesday, Stoke City [ Images ] playing League One leaders Brighton and Manchester United [ Images ] meeting minor League Crawley Town at Old Trafford.
