Indian Air Force is on the threshold of becoming a truly international lethal force, Air Chief Marshal S P Tyagi said on Friday as he envisioned an unprecedented modernisation in the coming years.
In his New Year greetings to the IAF personnel and their families, he said the force needs to ensure continuous enhancement of its operational efficiency within the available resources.
"The year gone by has seen remarkable capabilities within the ambit of a safe flying environ," Air Marshal Tyagi said.
"As the nation grows and marches ahead, we in the IAF should endeavour to measure up to the very high expectations placed on us by our countrymen," he said, adding the force will see unprecedented modernisation in the coming years.
Noting that the international exercises have proven IAF's mettle time and again, he said "we are on the threshold of becoming a truly international lethal fighting force. It is for us now to believe in ourselves and attain similar competency levels across the board."
The IAF chief said projects like Integrated Materials Management On-Line System and Modern Air Defence Ground Environment System Communication Network will need to be exploited to the hilt to enable total net-centricity.
