Balakrishnan is the founder, chairman and managing director of Rediff.com. In his capacity as the Chairman Emeritus, Balakrishnan would head the council of past chairpersons and provide strategic direction to the association as well as the Internet and mobile content and service industry.
The governing board of the IAMAI has also unanimously elected Sanjeev Bikhchandani as its chairman for 2008-09. Bikhchandani is the founder and chief executive officer of Info Edge India Limited.
The governing board also elected Sanjay Aggarwal, general manager (operations) of the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) as its vice chairman. Ratish Nair, co-founder, Interactive Avenues, will be the treasurer.
