An estimated 3,000 employees of Indian were on a one-day hungerstrike on Tuesday to press for their demand for wage revision.
"There is a demonstration before the Indian regional office and airport office gate by a section of the employees.
However, they are not blocking passage of passengers and the airline operation is not affected," Indian spokesperson P Mukherjee said.
"We are not going to hurt airlines operation. We are on hungerstrike for Tuesday. Some 3,000 employees have joined the agitation, except those who are into the direct operations department," an Air Corpoartion Employees Union leader said.
The demonstration is to press for the demand for wage revision that did not take place in last 10 years, the union leader claimed.
"The agitation is not restricted only in Kolkata. It is being carried out in all the offices of the country since December 22. Our All India employees strength is around 13,000," the union leader said.
