What nexus? 350-acre Gurgaon deal was clean: DLF

Last updated on: October 10, 2012 00:50 IST

Realty major DLF has rejected allegations made by activist Arvind Kerijwal of a nexus with Robert Vadra and the Haryana government and said that it enjoyed no special favours with the state government.

"We stand by our earlier statement and wish to once again specifically state that DLF has neither sought nor enjoyed any special favours from the government of Haryana and all developments of DLF undertaken over the last four decades are strictly in compliance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations with an adherence to the highest ethical standards," the company said in a statement.

Making a point-by-point rebuttal of Kerijwal's allegations, the company said an attempt was being made to sensationalise issues which are already in the public domain.

DLF said it had got 350 acres of land in Gurgaon "through international competitive tender" and categorically stated that it had never purchased any land in Manesar as alleged by Kejriwal in a press conference on Tuesday.

On the allegation that Vadra was majority shareholder in DLF SEZ Holdings Ltd, the company said 50 per cent of the stake in the SEZ subsidiary was acquired by North India IT Parks Pvt Ltd in 2008 at a face value of Rs 2.5 lakh.

"The said 50 per cent shareholding was subsequently bought back from North India IT Parks Pvt Ltd in September 2009 fully at face value of Rs 2.50 lakhs, as the proposal for developing SEZs could not take off due to deep recession in the market in year 2009. No benefit or gain was made by Vadra or DLF, in this regard," the statement said.

Vadra is a director in North India IT Parks, according to paper from corporate affairs ministry.

"We wish to clarify that this proposal had nothing to do with SEZ being developed or developed by DLF (including the one referred above). Vadra, neither had nor has any interest in the various SEZs of DLF in any manner," DLF said.

On Kejriwal's allegations of nexus between DLF and Haryana government in purchase of 30 acres for SEZ development, DLF said the land was bought from East India Hotels and the matter is subjudice in the Supreme Court.

Rebutting a charge that Haryana government increased FAR (floor area ratio) to benefit the company, DLF said: "This project was approved way back in 1995... In subsequent revisions of Master Plan, no changes in FAR or density have taken place. Hence, no benefit has accrued to DLF by the said revisions in the Master Plan".
