A skeleton found in the house of jailed independent legislator Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya belongs to one Santosh Misra, police said on Wednesday.

The legislator and his henchmen had allegedly killed Misra around two years ago, they said.

The skeleton was taken out from the pond in the legislator's Beti Palace in Kunda on Tuesday on the basis of information provided by three jailed accomplices of Raja Bhaiya.

Misra's widow, Vineeta, had lodged a first information report in this regard last week, they said.

Vineeta said in her complaint that she and her husband were going on a scooter when it was hit by Raja Bhaiya's car.

Irked by this, Misra was allegedly picked up and taken to the Beti Palace, where he was beaten to death, the police said.

The Mayawati government has charged Raja Bhaiya under the Prevention of Terrorism Act.
