A local court in Hyderabad on Monday ordered the state Anti Corruption Bureau to conduct an enquiry in connection with a land de-notifying case involving former Andhra Pradesh chief minister K Rosaiah and file a report.

Based on a petition filed by a practising advocate, Mohanlal, the ACB court in Hyderabad directed the anti-graft agency to submit a report on the issue before January 28, Sriranga Rao, counsel for the petitioner said.

The nine acre land in question was acquired by the state long back from certain landowners for constructing commercial complexes in the prime Ameerpet area.

According to the petitioner, this land was bought by G N Naidu and a few others from the landowners in 1997 after the land acquisition notification was issued.

However in 2010, following a representation from Naidu, the state government withdrew the land acquisition notification and handed over the land to Naidu in an unlawful manner, the petitioner alleged.

"Rosaiah government overruled all the objections and handed over the land to G N Naidu and others. We requested the court to instruct the government to cancel the GO (no 288) de-notifying the land," Srirangarao said.

The petitioner said the even the AP high court had earlier rejected the representations of Naidu and maintained that the land once acquired could not be given back.

"There was also resistance from the Hyderabad Metro Development Authority to the state government's move saying that the land could be used for the proposed metro rail project," the counsel said.

When contacted, Satyanarayan, director of ACB said he had not received the court copy and refused to comment on the subject.
