Barring minor incidents, the 48-hour Telangana bandh called by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi demanding separate statehood for the region, remained largely peaceful on the second day on Monday.

Suspected bandh supporters burnt two school buses in Secunderabad, Police Commissioner B Prasada Rao told PTI.

A passenger train was halted at Khazipet station in Warangal district following a bomb threat call and searches were on.

Normal life was disrupted in the region as the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation suspended its services fearing attacks by bandh supporters while TRS activists and Telangana supporters continued their demonstrations in various Telangana districts.

Meanwhile, the police launched a campaign in the Osmania University, which has emerged as a nerve-centre for the statehood movement, to ensure that law and order is maintained inside the campus in Hyderabad.

"We have to take appropriate action. We have the responsibility to ensure that properties and families residing in the university campus remain safe," Rao said adding a letter has also been received from the registrar of the university in this regard.

The police action comes in the wake of incidents at Punjagutta, Ameerpet and other localities when students went on a rampage two days ago and pelted stones at shops and damaged other properties.

TRS and civil rights activists have condemned the police entering the campus in large numbers.

Meanwhile, the health condition of TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao, who has been on a fast unto death for the last eight days, remained stable.

The TRS chief developed fever on Sunday but it has subsided now, doctors attending on him at the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences said.

They dismissed the allegations of Rao's family members that information regarding his health was being concealed, and said that details of the TRS chief are being given to the media several times during the day.
