A Mumbai trial court on Monday said the date of pronouncement of the verdict in the 2002 hit-and-run-case of Bollywood actor Salman Khan will be announced on Tuesday.

"Tomorrow court will declare the date for declaration of final decision for Salman Khan's hit-and-run case," said Special Public Prosecutor Pradeep Gharat.

"Today, the arguments were on the complaint. The application is kept for tomorrow's decision. We have told that the arguments are not correct. We have replied to the law," he added.

Earlier last month, Khan's driver Ashok Singh had told the Mumbai sessions court that he was driving the car.

Salman, who deposed before the court in Mumbai earlier last month, denied that he was drunk on the intervening night of September 27-28 in 2002, and that he was driving the car at the time of the accident.

Khan is accused of culpable homicide not amounting to murder in the hit-and-run case, a charge that carries a maximum penalty of ten years in prison.

He has been booked under Section 304 A of the Indian Penal Code (rash and negligent driving), 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing minor injuries), 338 (causing major injuries) and 427 (negligence) in regard to the 2002 case.

His trial began in Bandra Magistrate Court in Maharashtra in 2006. The actor was earlier being tried on the charge of death by negligence which carries a maximum prison term of two years.
