Pakistani-Canadian Tahawwur Hussain Rana and his family are in a "state of shock" after the jury found him guilty on two counts of terrorism related charges that could possibly result in a maximum imprisonment of 30 years.

"I think he is in shock," Charles Swift, Rana's attorney, told reporters at a news conference soon after the 12-member jury announced its verdict.

Rana was found guilty of conspiracy for the terror plot in Denmark and providing material support to Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Tayiba.

"He (Rana) is obviously very disappointed," Swift said when asked about Rana's reaction to the verdict.

Rana looked very tense when he was brought to the court room minutes before the judge was to announce the verdict delivered by the jury following more than 12 hours of intensive deliberations spread over two days.

The trial went on for nearly three weeks. Family members of Rana, including his wife, the two daughters and his mother-in-law were present in the court room at the time of the verdict.

They also looked tense and were seen weeping after the verdict was announced.

"We told him (Rana) that this was a step that was a possibility. The (Rana) family is dealing with this as best they can," Swift said.
