The Congress party has categorically ruled out resignation by Minister for Culture and Tourism Ambika Soni over the Ram Sethu issue.
Noted advocate and Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi said the party treats the Sethusamudram affidavit issue closed.
Singhvi said this in response to a question from mediapersons who wanted to know when three senior leaders of the party namely Jairam Ramesh, Salman Khursheed and R K Dhawan had demanded Soni's resignation, what stand the party had taken on the issue.
"An administrative inquiry is going on. The Congress believes in democracy," he said.
When asked who is heading the administrative inquiry, Singhvi said he does not know the details. "This is not a commission of inquiry," he added.
He refused to comment on the remarks of the Tamil Nadu chief minister about Lord Ram.
"It is his statement and you should go and ask him about it. I am here to clarify the stand of the party. As far as the party is concerned, it has made it clear that it took corrective measures swiftly and removed the offending paragraphs. In fact, withdrew the controversial affidavit," Singhvi said.
However, Singhvi promised to get back to the newspersons in case there was anything to report.
